Bitcoin Hashprice Explained: What the Mining Metric Reveals About Your Bitaxe

In short: Hashprice is the metric industrial miners use to calculate their margin. It currently stands at 29 to 31 US dollars per petahash per day (as of July 11-13, 2026, Hashrate Index). If I calculate my Bitaxe Gamma 601 with 1.3 TH/s using this formula, it comes out to 12 to 13 Euros per year. This is almost identical to the odds-based calculation from my expected value article on July 14, even though the calculation methods are unrelated. For a 3500-watt industrial miner, hashprice determines profit or loss. For the Bitaxe in the living room, the number is almost meaningless, because here, the average doesn't count.

What is Hashprice in Bitcoin?

Hashprice answers a single question: How many US dollars does one petahash per second of computing power generate on average per day, based on block reward, price, and current network difficulty? It is essentially the factory selling price for computing power. Operators of a hall full of Antminers base their entire existence on exactly this one number. If it rises, the industry breathes a sigh of relief. If it falls, machines go offline.

What is the current Hashprice in July 2026?

According to the Hashrate Index, the hashprice on July 13 was 30.88 US dollars per PH/s per day, and on July 11 it was 31.10 dollars. Other market observers such as Startmining and Simple Mining see the July average closer to around 29 dollars, a level that, according to the Hashrate Index, is reminiscent of the lows shortly after the Corona Crash in 2020. In the following, I conservatively calculate with a range of 29 to 31 US dollars, as of July 11-13, 2026.

What does a Bitaxe Gamma 601 really earn according to the Hashprice calculation?

1.3 TH/s corresponds to 0.0013 PH/s. Multiplied by 29 to 31 dollars, this results in 3.77 to 4.03 US cents per day, making 13.76 to 14.71 dollars per year. At the current exchange rate of 56,988.14 Euros per Bitcoin at 64,700 dollars (BTC ECHO, as of July 15), the exchange rate is around 0.88 Euros per dollar. Converted, this is 12.12 to 12.96 Euros per year.

Remarkably, my expected value article from July 14 arrived at 12 to 13 Euros per year using a completely different calculation method, namely hit chance times block value. Two independent methods, an almost identical result. If you want to calculate it yourself, you only need three steps: look up the current hashprice on Hashrate Index or The Block, convert your own hashrate from TH/s to PH/s (divide by 1,000), and extrapolate the result for 365 days.

Why is Hashprice almost meaningless for Bitaxe owners anyway?

Hashprice is an average value, designed for operators with thousands of chips, where variance is averaged out over sheer volume. A single Bitaxe never averages out. It either delivers zero Euros or 3.125 BTC plus fees, currently around 178,000 Euros. The 12 Euros from the hashprice calculation are a control calculation, not a forecast for your account. Anyone who buys a Bitaxe does not buy an average return product. They buy a lottery ticket with real, verifiable participation in the network, not an Excel spreadsheet with a nice average value.

If metrics like hashprice make you feel even more uncertain, you don't need a table, but a clear classification.

Why is an industrial miner not profitable with German electricity prices?

Market analyses set the break-even point for an Antminer S21 XP at around 0.088 US dollars per kilowatt-hour, while an S23 Hydro comes in at about 0.124 dollars. Converted to Euros, this is approximately 7.7 to 10.9 cents per kilowatt-hour. A German household electricity price of around 35 cents is therefore three to four and a half times above the break-even point of these machines. A 3500-watt industrial miner in the living room consumes about 30,660 kilowatt-hours per year at this tariff, resulting in over 10,700 Euros in pure electricity costs. Regardless of the hashprice, the living room is simply the wrong place for this class of hardware. A Bitaxe consumes about 52 Euros in electricity per year for around 149 kilowatt-hours, no matter how high or low the hashprice currently is.

What are the chances of finding a block in 2026?

The network hashrate was recently around 908 EH/s, after the difficulty was adjusted downwards by 5 percent to 127.17 trillion on July 11 for the 14th time this year. For a Bitaxe Gamma 601 with 1.3 TH/s, this results in a chance of about 1 in 13,290 per year (own calculation: 1.3 TH/s divided by 908,000,000 TH/s network power, multiplied by 52,560 blocks per year). The solo find on July 9, a Bitaxe that collected 3.1382 BTC, even had a calculated chance of only 1 in 18,000 years according to CoinDesk and still hit. Numbers are just probabilities, not dates.
